Duplicate lottery combination checker

Every paid line should have a clear purpose.

Find repeated Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 selections, measure line overlap and see how many different combinations your portfolio actually covers.

Free portfolio audit

Find repeated lines before you play.

Enter one numeric selection per row. Order does not matter: 1 2 3 4 5 6 and 6 5 4 3 2 1 are the same Lotto 6/49 combination.

AUDIT RESULT1 duplicate entry

Use spaces or commas between numbers. Each row must contain 6 different numbers from 1 to 49.

This checks individual numeric selections, not retail purchases or automatic add-on selections. Buying the same selection twice may create two prize claims if it wins, subject to the operator’s rules, but it still covers only one distinct winning-number outcome.

Three different ideas

Duplicate, overlap and coverage are not interchangeable.

A useful portfolio audit separates them before deciding what—if anything—to change.

01 · DUPLICATE

The whole line repeats

Every selected number is identical. The two entries depend on the same exact winning combination.

Example: 03 11 19 27 34 42 twice
02 · OVERLAP

Part of the line repeats

Two lines share some numbers but remain different combinations. Their jackpot outcomes are still distinct.

Example: three shared numbers
03 · COVERAGE

The portfolio spreads exposure

Lower overlap can expose the same number of slots to more different numbers and pairs.

Useful structure—not a forecast

THE COMBINATION RULE

Distinct lines create distinct ways to match the jackpot.

If you buy eight entries but two are exact duplicates, the portfolio covers seven different winning-number outcomes. Replacing the duplicate with any other valid, previously unused line raises that count to eight.

WITH A DUPLICATE8 → 7entries → distinct outcomes
ALL DISTINCT8 → 8entries → distinct outcomes
WHAT IMPROVES

Portfolio efficiency

  • More unique combinations for the same entry count.
  • Broader number exposure when overlap is intentionally reduced.
  • Clearer records of what each paid selection adds.
  • Easier auditing before tickets are purchased.
WHAT DOES NOT IMPROVE

The line itself

  • No number becomes due because it was absent before.
  • No valid line is favoured by a fair random draw.
  • Coverage cannot predict the winning combination.
  • No structure guarantees a prize or positive return.

Before-you-play checklist

Give every selection a quick audit.

  1. 1

Confirm the game format. A Lotto 6/49 line needs six distinct numbers; Lotto Max needs seven.

  2. 2

Normalize the order. Sorting each line makes exact duplicates easier to spot.

  3. 3

Remove accidental duplicates. Keep a repeat only when you intentionally want two claims on the same outcome.

  4. 4

Review overlap. Decide whether repeated numbers support your plan or simply concentrate it.

  5. 5

Keep the same budget. Auditing is meant to organize planned spending, not encourage more.

Common questions

Duplicate lottery lines, clearly answered.

What is a duplicate lottery combination?

Two selections are exact duplicates when they contain the same complete set of numbers. The printed order does not matter because lottery combinations are unordered.

Does buying the same line twice double the chance of winning?

No. Both entries depend on the same winning-number outcome. If that combination wins, duplicate valid tickets may each qualify for a prize under the operator's rules, but they do not cover two different jackpot combinations.

Are overlapping lottery lines duplicates?

Not necessarily. Two Lotto 6/49 lines that share three numbers but differ on the other three are still two distinct combinations. Overlap describes shared exposure; duplication means every selected number is the same.

Do distinct lines have better jackpot odds than duplicate lines?

For the portfolio, yes: two distinct valid selections cover two possible winning combinations, while two copies of one selection cover one. Compared with any other equal number of distinct valid lines, a coverage strategy has the same jackpot probability.

Does reducing overlap predict the winning numbers?

No. Lower overlap can spread a portfolio across more numbers and pairs, but every valid individual line remains equally likely in a fair draw.
