Lotto 6/49 report · completed August 2026

More lines improved match frequency. Cost rose with them.

Coverage-first portfolios from 9 to 25 Classic Draw lines were tested across 500 official draws. The study measured what each added line contributed—and where diminishing returns began.

This report answers a different question than the Lotto Max report.

It compares coverage portfolio sizes with one another. It is not a historical coverage-versus-random head-to-head. Exact random expectations are used only as a mathematical structure check.

THE QUESTION

How much did each additional Classic Draw line contribute?

FIXED DESIGNEvery smaller portfolio was a prefix

The same 25-line coverage portfolio was built first. Smaller sizes used its opening lines, isolating the effect of adding lines.

FIXED PRICE INPUT$3 per Lotto 6/49 play

Cost rose directly with line count. Known-value estimates used only user-supplied lower prize tiers.

LINE-COUNT RESULTS

More lines raised the best match and the cost.

“At least one” rates measure whether any line in the portfolio reached that match level during a sample.

*Known recovery is not total return. It includes the supplied values for exact 2, 2 + bonus, 3 and 4 only. Free plays were valued as replacement tickets rather than cash.

DIMINISHING RETURNS

The best match kept rising, but efficiency did not rise with it.

Nine lines produced the highest average-best-match result per purchased line in this run. That makes it an efficiency marker—not an instruction to spend $27.

STRUCTURE CHECK AT 10 LINES

Full-pool exposure is not a jackpot line.

A ten-line coverage portfolio can include all 49 main numbers somewhere. The six winning numbers may still be distributed across several different lines.

WHAT THIS SUPPORTS

Use the study as a budget trade-off.

  • Additional lines increased the chance of at least one lower match.
  • Nine lines were the match-efficiency leader in this run.
  • Ten lines offered one extra combination and more pair diversity.
IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

It is not a complete profit study.

  • 5+, jackpots and unsupplied prizes were excluded.
  • No tested size showed a positive known-value return.
  • “All six somewhere” can be split across lines and is not 6/6.
EXACT CLASSIC JACKPOT CHECK
